The new "FastLane" feature significantly improves broadband performance for on-line gaming, phone calls over the Internet, video conferencing, and other applications. It is highly recommended for use with bandwidth-intensive applications like peer-to-peer multimedia sharing. Zoom's innovative setup makes it easy for anyone to use this powerful feature.

Zoom's QoS feature allows users to prioritize outbound data from the various devices connected to the X6 through its four Ethernet ports or wireless-G capability. Users simply choose which ports will send prioritized traffic, and what share of the available bandwidth each should get. A gaming console, VoIP phone adapter, or other device plugged into a prioritized port or wireless connection will then have a guaranteed percentage of the available upstream bandwidth.

FastLane allows applications that require immediate transmission of data to work reliably even when they are competing with bandwidth-hungry applications, including popular peer-to-peer multimedia sharing applications like BitTorrent, eMule, and Limewire.
