Celebrity Cruises Reports Missing Guest on Century

MIAMI, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Celebrity Cruises has reported that a 73-year old British citizen, a man traveling alone on Celebrity Century, is missing. A crew member reported his absence Nov. 1, after it appeared he had not used his cabin. On learning of the situation, the ship's captain immediately began a ship search, reversed course to retrace the ship's path, and began making public announcements. Century had left Madeira, Portugal, Nov. 1, and ship-security records indicate the guest did not disembark in port. Celebrity has notified the British Embassy authorities, Portuguese maritime police, Bahamian maritime authorities, and the FBI, and is cooperating fully with all authorities. Century is on a 14-night transatlantic cruise from Barcelona to Miami, which began October 27.
