NEW YORK, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mark Shapiro, President and CEO of Six Flags, will ring The Closing Bell (sm) today on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange to celebrate the company's new stock ticker symbol. Six Flags, formerly listed on the NYSE under the symbol PKS, now trades under the symbol SIX.

"This year marked a milestone for Six Flags as we began our journey of repositioning our brand and experience to target families," said Shapiro. "Celebrating our new ticker symbol and ringing the closing bell signifies an exciting new era at Six Flags."

Shapiro will be joined at the closing bell ceremony by three animated guests, Looney Tunes Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck and Hanna Barbera's Scooby Doo, all of whom are favorite sights for visitors to Six Flags theme parks.

The company began trading under SIX on June 5, 2006. The former symbol, PKS, was used by Premier Parks, which acquired Six Flags from an investor group in 1998. The combined company changed its name to Six Flags, Inc. in 2000.

The Company has also changed the ticker symbol of its Preferred Income Equity Redeemable Shares (PIERS) to SIX-B.
