Clicker.com and UCLA Create Site for Students To Access Online Video Content on Demand

Clicker Media Inc. and the University of California, Los Angeles today launched UCLA on Clicker (http://www.clicker.com/ucla), a new service bringing online entertainment and university video content to students’ desktops through the school’s Web portal, MyUCLA (http://my.ucla.edu).

Launched in November 2009, Clicker offers the first comprehensive, structured and unbiased database of all broadcast, and broadcast-quality, programming available to watch online. Now, together with UCLA administrators, Clicker has designed a co-branded version of its service specifically for UCLA students, combining its existing 600,000 episode-deep catalog with original videos from the university itself.

“College students are clearly some of the most avid consumers of online media,” said Jim Lanzone, founder and CEO of Clicker. “Our new service will give UCLA students a more effective way to find legal online entertainment, and a more efficient way to access UCLA’s substantial body of original videos, together in one seamless experience. UCLA on Clicker will take the guesswork out of finding what is available to watch, where to watch it, and what’s worth watching online.”

The partnership between Clicker and UCLA will give students easy access through a single interface to hundreds of thousands of titles, all legal, from popular sites and networks like ABC, MTV, PBS, Hulu, YouTube and thousands more. The content will consist of broadcast network television shows, music videos, movies, Web originals, as well as proprietary UCLA content such as lectures and symposiums.

“The student body here at UCLA is made up of the most tech-savvy young minds in the country,” said Jonathan Curtiss, manager of technology development for UCLA student and campus life. “It’s all about discovery. Whether it’s for research or entertainment, students turn to the Internet first. By partnering with Clicker, we can encourage our students to find high-quality entertainment and educational material online through free, legal outlets while enhancing their resources for discovering material created by the campus.”

"The partnership between Clicker.com and UCLA offers college students - the biggest fans of movies and TV shows in the world - a hassle-free and user-friendly way to find and enjoy high-quality, premium content on the Internet legally," said Daniel Mandil, General Counsel & Chief Content Protection Officer for the Motion Picture Association of America. “We applaud Clicker.com and UCLA for fostering a campus culture that respects creativity and supports the livelihoods of the millions of people across the United States and around the world who create the movies and TV shows that we love, and for helping to ensure that these great jobs will be there for future college graduates.”

UCLA on Clicker was developed through collaboration between the two organizations, and was developed (and will be supported) without student dollars. The site is available to UCLA students for free at the following address: http://www.my.ucla.edu, and http://www.clicker.com/ucla
