Award-winning software publisher, Texthelp Systems today announced the release of its newest product offering, Fluency Tutor, at the Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) Conference being held January 27-30 in Orlando, FL. Fluency Tutor is an innovative online solution for developing and measuring oral reading fluency. Incorporating passages that align to the Metametrics^® Lexile Framework^® for Reading, the product includes tools for practicing, assessing, and measuring fluency as well as powerful graphical reports for tracking and analyzing student progress.

The easy to use product is designed for use by all students developing oral reading fluency, especially those 5-12 years of age. Students can listen to passages being read aloud in high quality text-to-speech voices, practice reading and recording passages in their own voice as many times as needed, and submit recorded assessments for marking. Fluency Tutor also provides feedback to the student through a series of easy to understand graphical displays.

Teachers can assign practices and assessments with the appropriate text difficulty level for individual students or groups of students. Recorded assessments are listened to and marked by teachers for fluency errors as well as expression. Fluency Tutor then automatically generates WCPM (Words Correct Per Minute) and prosody scores. Multiple reports are available to track and monitor a running record of students’ progress.
