Pentadyne Power Corporation (www.pentadyne.com), the world’s leading manufacturer of flywheel energy storage systems, will save a data center facility of a software engineering company two million dollars in energy savings. The order for more than 3 megawatts of flywheel energy storage systems will be deployed at the company’s Irvine, California, location.

Pentadyne flywheels were chosen over lead-acid batteries due to the vast energy savings as well as their high-reliability, near-zero maintenance, and environmentally responsible manufacture.

The 16-unit order comes from Emerson Network Power, which markets the Pentadyne system as the Liebert FS. The 16 Liebert FS flywheels will be mated with four 750-kVA Liebert NXL uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.

Configured as a 1+N approach, the 3,000 MVA Liebert power certainty package fits within a 2,000 square-foot space, with room for further expansion.
