Wines for Summer Grilling & Chilling From WineChateau.com
From backyard barbecues, to picnics on the beach to fancy summer dinner parties, Americans are enjoying more wine with meals

From backyard barbecues, to picnics on the beach to fancy summer dinner parties, Americans are enjoying more wine with their meals.

"Online sales of white wine in the summer rises to 36%," says 29-year old Saurabh Abrol, President and CEO of www.WineChateau.com, the fastest growing online wine merchant. But, he adds, "Red wine loyalists continue to opt for fruity or full-bodied flavors to complement beef."

"Online spending for wine is showing steady growth because it's cheaper and easier for consumers. . .they save time, gas and money, especially with our case discounts."

"People are also eager to experiment with value-priced wines from many parts of the world," Mr. Abrol notes. "New popular wines come from Chile, Argentina, South Africa, and even Long Island, but everyone wants a light, good-tasting wine at an affordable price to pair with their favorite summertime meals."

These are Abrol's summertime favorites:

  • With light meats like pork and poultry: Carmen Sauvignon Blanc 2008 ($6.89) from Chile is pale green yellow in color with clean herbal and floral aromas, fresh citrus, grapefruit, and orange leaf hints.
  • With spicier barbeque meats and sausage: Aya Malbec 2006 ($11.99) from San Juan has aromas of red fruits, violets in balance with mineral notes and a touch of vanilla and chocolate.
  • With steaks, lamb and burgers: I Terrieri Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2004 ($28.79) from Italy is a wonderful fusion of concentrated, dried cherry fruit and spicy, toasty oak.
  • With seafood salad: Spanish Quarter Chardonnay - Alberino 2007 ($8.09) from Spain has a deep rich-mouth-feel, tropical fruit aromas, peach flavors, a hint of spice and citrus notes.
  • With pasta salads: Ca de Rocchi Valpolicella Montere Ripasso 2006 ($17.89) from Italy has a fragrance of prune and sour cherry, accented by a touch of wood. Well balanced and smooth.
  • With fruit and berries: Chateau Grande Cassagne Rose Robert Kacher Selection 2007 ($6.89) from France is a sweet and light after-dinner Rose wine.

"Summer is a perfect time to experiment with wines. We are happy to offer a wide range of choices at very accessible price points," says Abrol.

www.WineChateau.com stocks 18,000 varieties of wine and spirits from all parts of the world and conducts business in 46 US states and 31 countries overseas. WineChateau.com projects revenues of $15-17 million in 2009.
